Last Month’s Dance Report

Yes!  Another magnificent New Year’s Eve celebration accompanied by a superb dinner and delightful dancing, attended by 46 dedicated dancers and enjoyed by all!  Unfortunately, there were 4 of us who were down with whatever they are calling the cold du jour these days and missed out on it all; but we were there in spirit!  Our end-of-year events just keeping getting better with age, and I for one am looking forward to helping plan the next one! Thank you all for your support of our club!

Special Thanks! to Chris Hanak for managing the hosting table for this special evening!  You always know when you see her bright smile that it will be a great evening.  Thanks Chris, for helping us out!

Thanks to Chef Abdul of The Village Bakery for his culinary efforts in providing such a varied and delicious buffet for our dining delight! We also offer Special Thanks to Elaine for her dedicated effort on our behalf in organizing Chef Abdul’s participation.  Thanks also to Dennis for providing the access to the kitchen and for getting the buffet organizing underway and under control – and for providing the music for the evening.  Last, but not least, Thanks to the entire Board for the planning, organization, and physical set-up of the facility for this fine evening.  You all are a great team!

During the break, Dennis reminded everyone that we need folks to manage the hosting table for the entirety of 2018.  Don’t be bashful!  Volunteer!  Dennis also alerted everyone that our next dance on January 27th is also our Annual Meeting as required by the Bylaws.  Elections will be held for VP, Secretary, and Treasurer.  Volunteers are solicited and welcomed!

Congratulations to Chris Sabo, Steve Hayasaka, Elena Cosby, Betty Hood, Lee Halleck, and Vickie Ellison for winning the door prizes. Enjoy!

I’m reserving this spot for a little humor (or serious stuff) from time to time. Here it is for this month:

Last Month’s Dance Report

What a way to start the new year! Forty-six dancing folks came together to enjoy another Saturday of food, dancing, and just plain fun! Was that great, or what??? Let’s do it again next month!

Special Thanks! to Mariea and Richard Kautter for their efforts at the hosting table this month. We are really lucky to have this fine pair as our friends and club members! Thank you both very much!

Thanks to Dennis, Debbie, Vickie, Elaine, Chris Sabo, and Ruthann for putting together a delicious buffet stew over rice for the evening repast. Dennis certainly displayed his superior culinary skills in the preparation of that tasty dish. Couldn’t you tell by the quality of the food that our “cooks” aren’t just a bunch of pretty faces around here??!! Thank you all for all the hard work you do in supporting our club!

Special, special Thanks to Patricia and Jack DeVroomen for beginning the new year with another donation of flower bulbs for our door prizes! When you care enough to get the very best, you get Patricia and Jack! Thanks you two, you know how much we appreciate what you do for us!

Dennis taught a truly interesting step in the Bolero. It looks great and is really easy to do once you get past the hard bits! Kidding aside, this step is about as classy as it gets in dancing and we thank Dennis for teaching it!

During the break, Dennis reminded everyone that we need folks to volunteer to host many of our dances in 2018. How about helping us out here? Dennis also alerted everyone that Rob’s next dance is the first Saturday of the month and the USA dance is on the third Saturday.

This is a reminder that with the new year, your Annual Dues are due PLEASE!

At this time Dennis also conducted our annual meeting as required by the bylaws. The standing slate of officers were elected and committee chairs appointed with the only change being the annual swap of Dennis to President and Dave to VP.. An overview of club finances was presented which showed that the needed cash balance improvement has occurred as a result of the fee (and other) changes made by the Board last year. Our finances are sound. There was no business from the floor and the meeting was adjourned.

Congratulations to Beate Pirchmoser and Ruth Whitley for winning the flower bulbs; and to Dean Allen for winning the gift card. Enjoy!

I’m reserving this spot for a little humor (or serious stuff) from time to time. Here it is for this month:

Ladies – Just ask your husband if he remembers what day today is….Scaring men is easy!

The easiest way to get on the attendees list is to send a check for the dance fee to Chris Hanak at the address provided on page one of this newsletter. Please only use this method if it is a last minute thing and there is no time to send in your fee by mail. Remember, we use the numbers of people on the list to purchase the required amount of food and drink for the dance. We don’t want to waste your money purchasing unnecessary amounts of goods, but we also don’t want to run out of supplies because an unknown number of people show up. You all can be most helpful to all those good folks who prepare for the dance by letting us know as soon as possible that you will be there. We hope this clears up any confusion and we look forward to your understanding. Thanks!

Last Month’s Dance Report

Looks like we’re on a roll here folks!  Fifty avid followers of our muse Terpsichore rumbled in to the dance floor on Saturday to enjoy an evening tripping the light fantastic!  You all looked real good doing it, too!  Shall we meet again next month?

Special Thanks! to Vickie and Paul Kroeger for taking over the hosting table this month.  Not only do they do that task with diplomatic aplomb, but Vickie always brings a delicious dessert for us all to enjoy!  You’d have to go a long way to find better friends than these folks!  Thanks a bunch you two!

Thanks to Dennis, Debbie, Vickie, Elaine, Chris Sabo, Margaret, and Ruthann for obtaining and presenting a delicious ham buffet with accompanying aliments for our gastronomic enjoyment.  Not only was it delicious; it was healthy!  I didn’t go away hungry!

Special, special Thanks to Jack DeVroomen for the donation of flower bulbs for our door prizes!  We really appreciate your support Jack!  The lovely Patricia was called away for her thespian duties entertaining the public in yet another great performance.  We missed you Patricia!

Dennis taught us a step in East Coast Swing – not really a dance that I care for - but this step was both interesting, and cool!  I believe I like East Coast Swing again; thanks Dennis!  Dennis also provided that very danceable music for the evening – Thanks again Dennis!

During the break, Dennis thanked all those folks who stepped up to do the hosting duties for future dances.  Thanks to you all for helping out your club!  Dennis also reminded everyone that our next dance is March 24, that Rob’s dance is next Saturday, and the USA dance is the 3rd Saturday of the month.

This is a reminder that with the new year, your Annual Dues are due PLEASE!

Please note that the next dance will feature a lesson in the line dance “River Waltz” to be taught by Chuck Allen and Beate Pirchmoser.  This is a lovely step which you won’t want to miss!

Congratulations to Tricia Lortz and Eugene Dickert for winning the flower bulbs; and to Tricia again for doubling up and winning the gift card. Enjoy!

I’m reserving this spot for a little humor (or serious stuff) from time to time. Here it is for this month:

Last Month’s Dance Report

When you all decide you are going to come out and dance you just don’t mess around, do you?!  We counted 59 of you wonderful folks through the doors Saturday last, and it was really a blast!  Oh look Mabel…He’s a poet!  We don’t know if it is the food, the dancing, the people, or just our magnetic personalities, but let’s do that again next month!  OK?

Special Thanks! to Jeannie and Tommy Barnwell for taking care of the hosting duties this month while doing such a great job greeting all those dancers!  Thanks you two for all your help and support of the club!  In addition, Jeannie was the source of 3 gift baskets for our door prizes and we truly thank her specially again for her efforts!  We all are glad you all belong with us!

Thanks to Dennis, Debbie, Vickie, Elaine, Chris Sabo, and Ruthann for their superb culinary efforts in putting together a tasty Bar-B-Q buffet for us to enjoy as our meal for the evening. Arby’s may have The Meats!, but we have THE COOKS!  Thank you all very, very much for all you do!

Once again it is Special Thanks to Patricia and Jack DeVroomen for the donation of flower bulbs for our door prizes!  You two are just the greatest!

Chuck Allen and Beate Pirchmoser taught the lesson in River Waltz Line Dance, and wasn’t that a great experience?  A not-too-difficult step which can be done as a couple or as a single. You could tell by the crowd on the dance floor that it was a popular lesson!  Thanks so much Chuck and Beate – Great job!

During the break, Dennis reminded us that our next dance is on 4/28, and that Rob’s next dance is the first Saturday of the month and the USA Dance is on the third Saturday.  He also urged those who want to join as members of the club to see Chris Hanak.  Dennis also reminded everyone of the upcoming Dancing for Our Heroes charity event in Anderson, and urged everyone to come out and support the good work that all of these folks do for the community. Dennis will again be one of the contestants in the dancing competition and solicits your monetary support for his charity sponsor, The Foothills Alliance.  Please give generously!.

This is a reminder that with the new year, your Annual Dues are due PLEASE!

Please note that the club has a Facebook page and we would appreciate it if you would like, and share posts for us.  Thanks!

Congratulations to Donna Allgood, Ruthann Thomas, and Beate Pirchmoser for winning the gift baskets; to Gwen Mochak and William Harris for winning the flower bulbs; and to Jeannie Barnwell for winning the gift card! Enjoy!

Last Month’s Dance Report

Drive on they said…so we did! Forty seven ballroom dancing fools came out to enjoy another wonderful evening of fun with their friends! Looked to me like everybody was having a mighty fine time! You too? I can’t wait to get started again next month – see you there!

Special Thanks! to Beate Pirchmoser and Chuck Allen for managing the hosting duties this month.  You two fit in this group like a glove and we are sure glad you are here!  Thanks for being great supporters of our dancing efforts.

Thanks to Dennis, Debbie, Vickie, Elaine, Chris Sabo, Yvonne, and Ruthann for their continuing delicious efforts in preparing a tasty chicken and mashed potatoes buffet.  I was rejuvenated and reinvigorated by all those appealing dishes, especially the Deeeeserts!  Yummy good y’all!

Sincere Special Thanks to Patricia and Jack DeVroomen for the continuing donations of flower bulbs for our door prizes!  You know how much we appreciate it!

Dennis taught a classy step in the Rumba which took more than a little concentration to get onto, but I think most of us got it…well…some of us?  Thanks Dennis for that fine effort, and also for providing the dance music for our enjoyment!

During the break, Dennis reminded us that our next dance is on 5/26, and that Rob’s next dance is the first Saturday of the month and the USA Dance is on the third Saturday.

This is a reminder that with the new year, your Annual Dues are due PLEASE!

Please note that the club has a Facebook page and we would appreciate it if you would like, and share posts for us.  Thanks!

Congratulations to Mariea Kautter, Geri Schmidt, and Debbie Adams for winning the flower bulbs; and to Tricia Lortz for winning the gift card! Enjoy!

I’m reserving this spot for a little humor (or serious stuff) from time to time. Here it is for this month:

I am taking this space to remember our good friend Lishan Yau who died unexpectedly this past month.  As an integral part of Rob Rizzuto’s dance scene, Lishan was a friend to all who met her.  Her beaming smile and welcoming grace were hallmarks of her superb character. She will be very much missed by all of us who knew her.

Important Information

Our web site address is: www.gcbdc.com

This is our standard reminder of the Dues and Fees required by the By-Laws.  Annual Membership Dues are $10.00 per person per year. Your membership expires in December and the dues are never pro-rated. Club Member Dance Fees are $12.00 per person and Non-Member Dance Fees are $14.00 per person. All Dance Fees are due 1 week prior to the dance. It is most important that Dance Fees be paid on time so that we can accurately judge the amount of food and drink to purchase for the dance. Please do your best to help us out with this one. Thanks!

Some recent queries indicate that perhaps we have not described the monthly dance sign-up process as clearly as we should have. The easiest way to get on the attendees list is to send a check for the dance fee to Chris Hanak at the address provided on page one of this newsletter. Please strive to do that chore one week in advance of the dance. You can also get on the attendee list by sending an email to Chris Hanak at the address provided on page one of this newsletter to let her know you will be attending and how you intend to pay the dance fee.

The fact that 45 of you came to dance proves that the threat of thunderstorms and generally nasty weather surely doesn’t deter ballroom dancers! Certainly not our dancers anyway! It was good to see you all there and I hope you had as much fun as I did. Same time next month?

Special Thanks! to Cheryl and Bob Carlisle for volunteering to handle the hosting chores, and then doing an admirable job at it! I just don’t know of two nicer folks to be greeted by! OK grammarians; take that sentence apart! Thanks you two!

Thanks to Dennis, Debbie, Vickie, Jana, Chris Sabo, Beate, and Nancy for their fine culinary efforts in providing an appropriate hot dog buffet and all those very lo-cal desserts to sustain us for the evening! Wow! It was superumtious good! Thank you all very much!

Sincere Special Thanks to Patricia and Jack DeVroomen for the continuing donations of flower bulbs for our door prizes, and to Jeannie and Tommy Barnwell for their donation of two gift baskets! How very thoughtful of you all!

Dennis taught a versatile turning step in the Rumba which you all can use as a lead in, or end to, many other steps in your Latin routine. Nice job Dennis and Thanks!

During the break, Dennis reminded us that our next dance is on 6/23, and that Rob’s next dance is the first Saturday of the month on 6/02 and the USA Dance is the third Saturday on 6/16.

This is a reminder that with the new year, your Annual Dues are due PLEASE!

Please note that the club has a Facebook page and we would appreciate it if you would like, and share posts for us.  Thanks!

Congratulations to William and Terry for winning a gift basket each, to Mary for winning the flower bulb, and to Mr. Lucky, William Allgood, for winning the gift card. If he would save up those cards he has won, he could take the club to dinner! Enjoy!

Last Month’s Dance Report

Thirty-six advocates of Terpsichore came out Saturday last to enjoy an evening of dancing and fun; and they were not disappointed! There is just something about ballroom dancing that brings joy to the heart and a smile to the face, isn’t there? See you again next month?

Special Thanks! to Vickie and Paul Kroeger for their deft handling of the hosting chores this month. You just aren’t going to find two nicer people to greet you at the dance and make you feel good about being there! Thanks you two!

Thanks to Dennis, Debbie, Vickie, Chris Sabo, and Ruthann for putting together those tasty Bar-B-Que vittles for us to enjoy! You all just seem to have the magic touch when it comes to satisfying that old hunger urge before the dance. We just want you all to know how much we all appreciate it! Thanks!

And, Thank you again to super club supporters and great friends Patricia and Jack DeVroomen for their donation of flower bulb door prizes. We really do appreciate your generosity!

Dennis taught a very classy, turning Cha Cha step which was a joy to learn, and looks good too! Thanks Dennis!

During the break, Dennis reminded us that our next dance is on 8/25, that Rob’s next dance is the first Saturday of the month on 8/04, and the USA Dance is the third Saturday on 8/25.

Dennis also mentioned that New Year’s Eve is on a Monday this year, and wondered if there was any support for having our celebration on the previous Saturday instead?  A show of hands indicated majority support for a Saturday dance. Please let a Board member know what you think!

Please note that the club has a Facebook page and we would appreciate it if you would like, and share posts for us.  Thanks!

Congratulations to Tricia Lortz and Chris Sabo for winning the flower bulbs, and to Margaret Dickert for winning the gift card.  Enjoy!

Last Month’s Dance Report

Wow again folks!  Forty-four very friendly people graced our dancing venue Saturday last, including 4 new couples! Way to go you all! Whatever it is we are doing, we’re just going to keep right on doing it!  See you again next month?

Special Thanks! to Beate and Chuck for managing the hosting duties for this month.  You know when you are being greeted by the very best!  Thanks you two for your help and support of our club – we all really appreciate it.  Enjoy Germany!

Thanks also to our Secretary, Chris Sabo for her deft handling of the Treasurer chores in the absence of Chris Hanak!  Thanks Chris!

Thanks to Elaine, Dennis, Debbie, Vickie, Chris Sabo, Beate, Jana, Linda, and Ruthann for cooking, provisioning, arranging, and otherwise providing a delicious and varied poultry buffet! The egg, chicken, and green salads were their scrumptious best, and the desserts were, well, vast! We have the best dancing cooks in the state and don’t think we don’t appreciate their culinary efforts!  BRAVO!

Dennis taught a follow-on Cha Cha step to last month’s lesson called the 7-up.  The name comes, you see, from 3 Cha Cha steps followed by 3 more Cha Cha steps (that’s 6) followed by a step-kick-slide and that makes 7, right?  I think I got hung up on the numbering!  Great step!  Thank you Dennis, and thanks for providing all the classy music for our dancing pleasure!

During the break, Dennis reminded us that our next dance is on 9/22, that Rob’s next dance is the first Saturday of the month on 9/01, and the USA Dance is the third Saturday on 9/15.

Noted also was the need for volunteers for hosting duty for October and November.  Please think about signing up for this easy task that is a big help to our club.  Thanks!

Dennis also mentioned that New Year’s Eve is on a Monday this year, and wondered if there was any support for having our celebration on the previous Saturday instead?  A show of hands indicated majority support for a Saturday dance. Please let a Board member know what you think! We will be making a decision on this soon.

Please note that the club has a Facebook page and we would appreciate it if you would like, and share posts for us.  Thanks!

Congratulations to first time winner, Elaine, for winning the gift card.  Twelve years is a long time! Enjoy!

I’m reserving this spot for a little humor (or serious stuff) from time to time. Here it is for this month:

Honesty may be the best policy, but it’s important to remember that apparently, by elimination, dishonesty is the second-best policy.

Last Month’s Dance Report

Well, there you go!  Terpsichore drew in 40 delightful folks to populate the dance very nicely for last month!  I had a great time, and from the looks of it, you did too!  Next month?

Special Thanks! to Margaret and Eugene Dickert for very ably managing the hosting table this month.  When you come through the door and see the welcoming smiles from these two, you know you are going to have fun!  Two nicer folks you’ll not meet.  Thanks you two for being such great friends and supporters of our club!

Thanks also to our Secretary, Chris Sabo for her deft handling of the Treasurer chores in the absence of Chris Hanak!  Thanks Chris!

Thanks to Elaine, Dennis, Debbie, Vickie, Chris Sabo(Sam for delivery service), and Ruthann for laying out a fine course of chicken finger and mashed potato vittles for us to enjoy at the buffet.  Coupled with the greens salad, jello salad, condiments, and that broad variety of desserts, it hit that old hungry spot just fine!  Also, thanks to Jack and Patricia for the cakes in celebration of Jack’s and Gary’s birthdays!  All delicious goods you all and we thank you very much!

Thanks again to Patricia and Jack for their donation of flower bulbs for our door prizes!  You know how much we appreciate that continuing gesture from both of you.  Welcome back from your European travels – we missed you!

Dennis taught a very smooth Bolero step which we shall name the Grapevine to Ronde’ step.  It is a beautiful move which we hope to put in our routine – if we can remember it!  Thanks Dennis!

During the break, Dennis reminded us that our next dance is on 10/27, that Rob’s next dance is the first Saturday of the month on 10/06, and the USA Dance is the third Saturday on 10/20.
Dennis noted that we have hosting volunteers for the remainder of this year, but that shouldn’t keep you from volunteering for a spot next year!

Dennis also mentioned that we will be having a Board meeting in the next week and if you have any issues for us to discuss, please bring them to a board member.

Please note that the club has a Facebook page and we would appreciate it if you would like, and share posts for us.  Thanks!

Congratulations to Eugene Dickard and Ruthann for winning the flower bulbs, and to Linda Timms for winning the gift card.  Enjoy!
